Unit of Inquiry

Learning How to Use a Central Idea

Today, we learnt how to use a central idea for our Unit of Inquiry.  Firstly, we wrote down questions we thought would help us to gain a deep understanding of our central idea. We then shared these with our table partner and then as a whole class we agreed upon those questions we felt would best help us with our Unit of Inquiry.

This is what we have decided we should find out:

We then brainstormed different ways we could find out and had those ideas placed either under primary sources or secondary sources:

We discussed how with primary sources WE are creating the information / knowledge whereas with secondary sources we are using what someone else has researched or found out.

We agreed we should try to use as many primary sources as possible so we created interview questions to ask a family member who has migrated.

Our interview questions needed to help us find answers to our central idea questions.

We will share our findings next Tuesday.
